NeoGen PSR After Care Instructions
Proper aftercare is one of the most important parts of your NeoGen PSR results. Following these instructions from Laser Body Renewal helps your skin heal comfortably, reduces the risk of complications, and supports the collagen regeneration that continues for months after your session. Please read through each stage below and contact our office at (203) 423-2224 if you have any questions or concerns during your recovery.
Schedule A ConsultationThe First 48 Hours
- Do not cleanse the treated area during the first 48 hours.
- Do not overexpose your treated skin to the sun.
- Blotchiness and redness are normal for 24 to 48 hours after treatment.
- Twice daily, starting on the day of your treatment, gently blot (do NOT wipe) off any remaining CeraVe Deep Healing Ointment (blue tube). Next, apply “Dermal Reset” Exosomes (white bottle) over the treated areas.
- Reapply CeraVe Deep Healing Ointment on top of the Dermal Reset to create a thin, oily protective barrier.
- Blotchy redness should subside within 24 to 48 hours. If it lingers longer than 48 hours, please contact our office for a skin check.
Days 3 to 5 β Before Complete Flaking
- Contact us if you have continued pain, blistering, oozing, or concerns about itching in the treated area.
- After the first 48 hours, a mild cleanser (NOT glycolic acid based) can be used daily. Apply the cleanser by dabbing or patting it on with your hands, then rinse gently. Do not tear or scrub the treated areas.
- After cleansing, you may use over-the-counter hydrocortisone cream to ease discomfort such as itching.
- For optimal results, keep the skin densely hydrated and continue electrolyte supplementation for one week.
- There is no need to keep applying the CeraVe ointment unless you are told to continue. Continue using the Dermal Reset cream twice daily until the bottle runs out, usually within 7 to 10 days after your session. After that, you can return to any good-quality moisturizer.
- Do not pick! Picking may result in infection or scarring.
- Treated skin generally flakes within 3 to 10 days, and the old skin will come off as you wash. Flaking can be hard to see. As your skin flakes, some areas may look lighter or darker, and this will even out over time.
- Avoid intense exercise and heavy sweating for 5 days after treatment.
- Use sunblock over treated areas whenever extended sun exposure is possible.
- You can begin wearing makeup again on day 3, but remove it gently using the patting process described above.
Follow Up and Pictures β 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, and 180 Days
- Pictures of the treated areas taken at regular 30-day intervals help determine the ideal time for your next NeoGen treatment and whether a touch-up is needed.
- New tissue growth is a gradual process and is nearly impossible to notice by looking in the mirror each day. Consistent HD photos taken with the same lighting, backdrop, and camera are the only reliable way to assess your progress.
- We expect to see visible changes between 60 days (after the top epidermal layer has turned over) and 180 days after treatment. Be patient, because everyone responds at a different pace.
- Staying well hydrated and avoiding sunburn in the treated area are the most impactful things you can do to support your results.
