Why These Steps Matter
Retinoids
Retinoids speed up skin cell turnover and can make the skin more sensitive. Pausing them for a week helps your skin respond predictably to plasma energy and reduces irritation during healing.
NSAIDs and Steroids
NSAIDs and steroids can interfere with the natural inflammatory and healing response that NeoGen PSR relies on to stimulate new collagen. Always check with your prescribing provider before stopping any prescribed medication.
Botox and Fillers
Allowing at least 10 days between injectables and your NeoGen session helps ensure products have settled and lets your specialist treat the area safely and accurately.
Hydration
Energy-based treatments like NeoGen PSR and Emerald Laser depend on proper hydration, which has been found to be critical to both of their outcomes. Electrolyte supplementation in the week before treatment, plus avoiding alcohol and caffeine the day before, helps your skin heal and regenerate.
Darker Skin Tones
NeoGen PSR is safe for all skin types. For Fitzpatrick skin types 4 and 5, your provider may recommend hydroquinone before treatment and a two-pass protocol to protect pigmentation.
On the Day of Treatment
Arrive 15 to 20 minutes early for photographs and skin preparation, keep drinking plenty of water, and avoid caffeine. After your session, follow our NeoGen after-care instructions. You can review treatment costs on our NeoGen PSR pricing page.
